THE POWER OF RUNES AND THEIR FUNCTIONS
Runes are an ancient system of writing and magical symbols used by the Germanic and Scandinavian peoples since the 2nd century AD. Each rune has a specific meaning and was believed to have mystical power. The best-known runic alphabet is the Elder Futhark, composed of 24 symbols. Each rune represents concepts such as: Fehu (ᚠ): wealth, livestock, prosperity Uruz (ᚢ): strength, vitality, primal power Thurisaz (ᚦ): protection, defense against enemies Ansuz (ᚨ): communication, divine wisdom Raidho (ᚱ): travel, movement, progress Runes served multiple functions: everyday writing, divination, magical protection, and rituals. They were inscribed on stones, wood, and metal to invoke specific powers. The Vikings used them in amulets, weapons, and funerary monuments. Today, runes are used in esoteric practices, meditation, and as a tool for self-knowledge, while maintaining their ancestral symbolism.
