The FDA is warning consumers about certain shrimp sold at Walmart, which were investigated for radioactive contamination.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is urging the public not to consume bags of frozen raw shrimp sold at Walmart, citing radioactive contamination and unsanitary conditions found in shipments from the same supplier. The FDA reported that a radioactive isotope, cesium-137, was found in a sample of breaded shrimp that were detained at U.S. ports, specifically in Los Angeles, Houston, Savannah, and Miami. These shrimp shipments came from an Indonesian supplier known as BMS Foods. These contaminated shipments never reached the U.S. market. However, authorities are advising customers not to consume them because the agency stated that they "appear to have been prepared, packaged, or stored under unsanitary conditions that could have caused contamination with Cs-137," and because the frozen raw shrimp sold at Walmart came from the same supplier.
