How can common alopecia be treated?
There is no cure for androgenetic alopecia; however, those who suffer from it have alternatives. For example, in the United Kingdom, two medications are permitted to treat this condition: minoxidil and finasteride. Both can cause unwanted side effects, and neither is available through the National Health Service. The British Association of Dermatologists maintains that hair systems, such as wigs, toupees, or extensions, and skin-concealing products, such as fibrous pigment sprays, can be helpful in concealing baldness. Surgical procedures, such as hair implants, can also be performed privately. The hair transplant industry has recently grown in popularity, with many young men traveling to countries like Turkey to receive hair transplants.
