Activist Federico Soria was fired by the National Parks Administration for his participation in the protest against the San Jorge mining company.
In Mendoza, he was one of the promoters of the Uspallata-Polvaredas Protected Natural Area. He had previously reported that his superiors were persecuting him ideologically due to his environmental activism. He also has a pending lawsuit related to the protest against the mining company in January of last year. Federico Soria, a park ranger known for his activism in the Water Assemblies and as a promoter of the Uspallata-Polvaredas Protected Natural Area, was fired by the National Parks Administration (APN). He had worked for the APN since 2007 and, at the time of his dismissal, was working in El Leoncito National Park, located in the province of San Juan. According to what Ecopress reported, Soria had denounced in March of the previous year that he was being persecuted for being a member of the Self-Convened Residents' Assembly of Uspallata, opposing San Jorge Mining and suggesting a protected area as an alternative to mining.
